General Surgical Outpatients

Our General Surgical Outpatients Clinic is a free of charge (for Medicare patients) public clinic for new patients requiring General Surgeon Specialty Consultation. We also follow-up patients who have had elective surgery under our Unit’s care via this clinic.

Patients who wish to be seen in our clinic require a referral from their GP. We also see patients who have been referred by our Emergency Department or other specialty units in our hospital who require surgical review and/or planning of further surgery. 

General Surgical Outpatient Clinic Timetable: 

  • Face-to-face: Clinic 117 – Tuesdays: 13:00 – 15:00hrs
  • Telemedicine: Tuesdays: 13:00 – 15:00hrs

For new patients to this service, we will make an appointment for you after we have received a referral from your GP. You will be contacted regarding your appointment time by mail.

For patients having follow-up after elective surgery, either an appointment will be made for you before you leave hospital, or your will be instructed to contact our unit for an appointment. You will be contacted regarding your appointment time by mail.

CLINICS

Trauma Clinic

Dr Valerie Malka is the Director of the Trauma and Acute Care Surgical Unit at Liverpool Hospital. She was the previous Director of Trauma Services at Westmead Hospital for over a decade. She is an EMST Director and DSTC Instructor with a great passion for trauma and acute care surgery. With special interests in education and quality assurance she has worked extensively in patient safety and the maintenance of ethics in healthcare. Valerie has worked with the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Rescue Committee and holds a Diploma in International Humanitarian Assistance from Geneva University and a Master’s Degree in International Public Health with a major in Humanitarian Law. She also holds a Master’s degree in Journalism and works freelance writing medical, health and wellbeing articles.
